After the announcement of Aydın Enginarı in the Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Bulletin of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Aydın Commodity Exchange, made statements regarding the issue. Mr. Çondur stated, “We applied to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office under the name 'Aydın Enginarı' to differentiate the Aydın Artichoke, which is grown in our province, where the highest artichoke production in our country takes place, and to promote it more reliably and qualitatively at national and international levels. As a result of our application, Aydın Enginarı has been announced in the Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Bulletin of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. After the completion of the three-month objection period, we will obtain the geographical indication registration certificate for Aydın Artichoke and start preparations for the application for EU geographical indication registration. May this be beneficial for our province and our members.”
Mr. Çondur expressed that Aydın Enginarı, which is grown in our province's fertile lands and is known for its unique taste, holds great importance for both the agricultural sector and consumers. Mr. Çondur stated that this geographical indication registration will not only increase the value of Aydın Artichoke but will also significantly contribute to the economic development of the region.
Mr. Çondur thanked everyone who contributed to the geographical indication application process for Aydın Enginarı, emphasizing that Aydın Member of Parliament Mustafa Savaş provided support at every stage of the process and greatly contributed to following up on the application.
