The second product of 2024 registered with the European Union Commission was Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı.

Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı protected designation of origin product, for which a registration request was made by the Aydın Commodity Exchange with the number PDO-TR-02802 – 24.9.2021, was published in the Official Gazette numbered 2024/00445 as of February 5, 2024 and was registered with the European Union Commission.

Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı, which was applied for registration by the Aydın Commodity Exchange with the name of origin protection, to the European Union Commission General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development with the reference number PDO-TR- 02802 on 24 September 2021, was registered with the European Union (EU) on 5 February 2024, numbered 2024 / 00445. It was published in the Official Journal of the EU and became Turkey's 20th product registered in the European Union.

Avrupa Birliği’nde tescillenen Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı coğrafi işaretli ürünü için açıklamada bulunan Aydın Ticaret Borsası Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Fevzi Çondur,” AB Komisyonu Tarım ve Kırsal Kalkınma Genel Müdürlüğü tarafından tescil edilen Aydın Kestane’sinden sonra ilimizin önemli tarımsal ürünlerinden biri olan Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı, Avrupa Birliği Komisyonu tarafından coğrafi işaretli ürün olarak tescil edilmiştir. Borsamız tarafından Avrupa Birliği’nde tescili sağlanan Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağının sahip olduğu katma değer, ilimizin uluslararası platformda bilinirliliğine ve ekonomik gücüne katkı sunmaktadır.

Mr. Condur,” Kültürel zenginlikleriyle bilinen ülkemiz, geçmişten bugüne var olan değerlerine coğrafi işaret tescilleriyle sahip çıkmakta olup Avrupa Birliği nezdinde yapılan coğrafi işaret başvurularıyla da ürünlerine uluslararası kimlik kazandırmaktadır. Coğrafi işaret tescil süreçlerinde özverili çalışmalar sergileyen ilimiz ise bu çalışmalar neticesinde ülkemizde 1.sırada yer almaktadır. Bu hususta ilimiz ekonomisi için bir marka değeri taşıyan Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağının Avrupa Birliği’nde tescillenmesi diğer tarımsal ürünlerimiz için de teşvik edici bir gelişmedir. Aynı zamanda Aydın Memecik Zeytini ve Aydın Çam Fıstığının da Avrupa Birliği’nde tescil başvurusu yapılmış olup ilan edilmesi beklenilmektedir ” dedi.
