Aydın Commodity Exchange Deputy Chairman Rıza Uyar, Chairman of Aydın Commodity Exchange Fevzi Çondur, Vice Chairman Cengiz Ulgen, Board Member Yakup Er and Councillor Adem Türkmen attended to the 2021 Ordinary Elective General Assembly Meeting of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association (EZZIB).
Davut Er, president of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, mention the problems in olive and olive oil export figures and olive oil production at 2021 Ordinary Elective General Assembly Meeting. Mr. Er stated that $94 million worth of table olive exports took place in the first 6 months of 2021-2022 season. During this period, we exported a total of 42 thousand tons of black olives and 18 thousand tons of green olives. Mr. Er added that the most exports were made to Germany in black olives and Iraq in green olives.
Stating that olive oil exports increased by 81 percent, Davut Er stated that they generated $99 million in foreign currency revenue for 30,000 tons of products in the first 5 months of the olive oil export season, which started on November 1, 2021. Compared to the first 5 months of last season, it was an increase of 50 percent in quantity and 81 percent in amount terms.
Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Board of Aydın Commodity Exchange, who wished for the 2021 Ordinary Elective General Assembly Meeting held by the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Association to be auspicious, stated that they will continue to work in partnership with Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association to increase the domestic consumption and export potential of olives and olive oil, which are among remarkable export products for our province and our country.
