The restrictions on olive oil exports were lifted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in January 2022 on the grounds of ensuring food supply safety, and were lifted as of 7 July 2022.
In January 2022, the Official Gazette issued a Statement on the Export of Certain Agricultural Products, which lifted the export restrictions on olive oil exceeding 5 kilograms.
Addressing the issue, Fevzi Condur, Chairman of Aydın Commodity Exchange, stated that the export restrictions on olive oil, which have a significant share in the export of agricultural products in our country, negatively impacted the sustainability of exports, and the removal of restrictions on olive oil exports were really good decision.
''With that decision, both our producers and exporters will be glad of and have double rejoicing; in consequence of %50, olive oil exports in our country, have been made as olive oil in bulk'' stated by Fevzi Condur. Mr. Condur explained that this situation relate the lifting of the ban on exports to olive oil to the authorities at each meeting they atteded, that decision was taken by T.R. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Prof. Doc. Vahit thanked Kirisci, the head of the Aegean Association of Olive and Olive Oil Exporters, Davut Er, who expressed the demands of our olive oil industry, and all those who have made their efforts.
