1.04.2021   Aydın Commodity Exchange Received The Protected Designation of  Origin for Aydın Pine Nut

   '' Aydın Pine Nut''  Protected Designation of Origin application made to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office with the number C2019/071 dated June 18, 2019 was published in the ''Geographical Indications and Traditional Product Name Bulletin'' of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office on April 1, 2021. 

The ''Aydın Pine Nut'' Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, which was put under the protection by Aydın Commodity Exchange by comleting an application with the number C2019/071 dated June 19, 2019, has been published in the ''Geographical Indications and Tradtitional Product Name Bulletin of the Turkish Patent Coorperation'' dated April 1, 2021 upon its examination by the relevant institutions.

Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur stated that Geographical Indication Register distinguishes the product from its around and protects its origin with producers; contributes greatly to the local and national economy, also. Mr. Çondur added that '' We go on to work on the geographical indications so that our agricultural products, which are identified with our province, could be protected against unfair competition. We completed the geographical indications process for the export of high-economic value for Aydın Pine Nuts. The geographical indication applications we made to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office for Aydın Pine Nut was published in the bulletin of the Geographical Indication and Tradtitional Product Name of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Institution, and the certificate of geographical indication register will be issued following the completion of the three month appeal period.'' 

Stating that we would ensure the national and international recognition of pine nuts, a product that provides an important added value for the province of Aydın and the region's economy as Aydın Commodity Exchange, Mr. Çondur said '' we will start the European Union Geographical Sign studies in order to increase the brand value of our region and to find the value that our agricultural products deserve in the national and international market. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to tha Aydın Pine Nut geographical sign application process.''

Aydın Pine Nut, which is a unique value for all of Turkey with its geographical unique offered by Aydın province, is of great importance for rural development because it creates an important source of income for the local people. 60% of the pine nuts produced in Turkey are covered by Aydın province and have increasing export potential and 80% of the pine nuts produced in the region are exported and contribute foreign currency to the country.
