2022/2023 Season Fig Sector Meeting was held on Aydın Commodity Exchange
The issues facing members in the sector and the issues requested were evaluated at Aydın Commodity Exchange. In the meeting to be discussed some solutions producers, merchants and exporters evaluated the current status of 2022/2023 fig season as a step towards resolving problems. The representatives of the sector agreed to jointly deal with the issues on the agenda and the demands that have been made and discussed which labour is being conducted in the sector meeting.
Inaugurating the meeting and moderating the meeting, Fevzzi Condur, Chairman of Aydın Commodity Exchange, said that the producers had a difficult season because of the drought in Aydın around. ''In 2021/2022 season, our country registered a total of 71,250 tons of dry fig with 60,104 tons of this registration producing from our province. In our country, which is first in total production and export of figs, the exports of dried figs in 2021 totaled 59,333 tons while exports of 51,170 tons of dried figs in our province'' Mr. Condur said.
6,000 Tons of Dry Figs Stocked At Aydın Renewable Energy with Cold Storage Inc.
Chairman of Aydın Commodity Exchange Fevzi Condur who gave knowledges as to Renewable Energy with Cold Storage, built by Aydın Commodity Exchange, stated the Cold Storage had stored nearly 6,000 tons of dry figs since became operational.
Mr. Condur explained that the problems and solutions to the dry fig sector in which we lead the world in production were conduted to the authorities at each meeting they attended. Mr. Condur, '' our country's agricultural export products, our producers have had trouble demanding the producer receipt they sell. It has been reported that offering premium support for dried figs, though symbolic will benefit the producers and will largely informal economy. In our province, which has an 86% share of dry figs exports, due to the lack of a agricultural quarantine directorate, our exporters' struggles have been mentioned and our demand for this matter has been relayed.''
Mr. Gabay, '' During 2021-2022 Season, 62,758 Tons of Dry Fig Exports Occured''
''Exporting dried figs to Aegean Region is strategic and prestigious for our country, Yusuf Gabay, Deputy Chairman of Aegean Exporters' Association of Fruits and Products, adding that exports of dried figs during 2021-2022 season represent 62,758 tons. ''Dry figs hold at 235 million dolars with 3% decrease from last season and 1% increase in the value of 62,758 tons as 2021/2022 season soon. The top 3 exported countries are France, Germany and United States.'' stated by Yusuf Gabay.
Yusuf Gabay talked about the labours done by Aegean Exporters' Association as part of efforts to improve quality and food safety in the dried fig. ''As part of efforts to improve quality and food safety for dried fig, many materials are made as free of charge to the producers such as rostrum, harvested nett, eleme figs' nett and eksilik beetle by Aegean Exporters' Association are distributed with Agriculture and Forestry Directorate' supports'' spoken by Yusuf Gabay.

''Aydın Agriculture and Forest Provincial Director Ahmet Okdem briefed the industry on dry fig production data during the meeting. Our province has over 37,000 hectares of fig production area and over 7 million treeship, has dried fig recollection ranging from 65 to 70 thousand tons over the years. Aydın province covers 85% of dried fig production to our country when covers 60% of it through the world'' stated by Ahmet Okdem.
Stating that 166 fig storages and 170 fig business are available in Aydın province, Mr. Okdem added that the directorate conducted 255 inspections of fig business in 2021 and 117 adults this year. In 2021, with 227 meetings held throughout the city, 1,965 producers were trained, and in the first six months of this year, 55 meetings were available to 823 producers. Fig fields thoughout the year; the disease is controlled harmfully and phenologically. In the event of any disease or harm, the required notices are given to manufacturers with our Directorate's website, sms and bulletin.
The second session, moderated by Fevzi Condur, Chairman of Aydın Commodity Exchange, was marked by Yusuf Gabay, Deputy Chairman of Aegean Association of Exporters of Dry Furits and Products, Nurettin Kırlıoglu, Chairman of Nazilli Commodity Exchange, Department of Agriculture and Forestry- Branch of Plant Production and Plant Wealthy Deputy Director Aydın Celik and Figen Sezer Koksal Department of Agriculture and Forestry- Feed and Food Deputy Director attended as speakers.
The meeting, which focused on the issues requested, concluded with QA section.
