Aydın Commodity Exchange hosted a delegation from Albania and representatives of FAO Turkey, who visited Aydın under the coordination of the Fig Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey. During the visit, the delegation met with Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aydın Commodity Exchange.
The delegation was informed about chestnut production, export, added value, processing processes, and the activities of the Aydın Commodity Exchange.
In the meeting attended by FAO Turkey representatives, ideas were exchanged on how Turkey's potential in chestnut production can be used more effectively on an international scale. FAO Turkey officials highlighted the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and efforts to combat chestnut pests during this process. Additionally, the contributions and projects of the Aydın Commodity Exchange in this field were appreciated by FAO Turkey representatives.
Projects and commercial opportunities to strengthen agricultural cooperation between the two countries were discussed. It was decided to take joint steps to increase the potential for cooperation, especially in expanding into new markets for chestnut trade and developing high value-added products.
Representatives from 5K1A, Dilruba Ağaçcıoğlu and Burcu Çallı, who participated in the meeting, informed the delegation about the production methods that distinguish Aydın Kestanesi rom other chestnuts in the European market. They highlighted the use of the geographical indication symbol on packaging during the product's branding process. They also expressed their gratitude to the Aydın Commodity Exchange for its support of geographical indication efforts.
