21.04.2022 Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur Made Statements Regarding the Production Season

Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur assessed the begin of the new production season in Aydın which has a high agricultural potential. Mr. Çondur emphasized that the price increase in input costs should be controlled to ensure uninterrupted agricultural operations.

Fevzi Çondur stated that there was a significant rise in production costs of around 300 percent compared to 2021 and noted that there was a significant hike in prices of fuel, fertilizers, seeds and agricultural products. He stated that the producers reduced the amount of fertilizers or pesticides they should use during the production season due to the increase in manufacturing costs, which would result in decrease in production. Mr. Çondur added, '' The Central Anatolia Region reports that compost was not disposed of because of the increase in production costs. If the same applies to cotton and corn, production would fall Even though the costs are high our producers must be careful about this matter in order to continue production, and fertilizer must be used in cotton or corn to achieve maximum yield.''

''Avoid Excess Irrigation'' by Mr. Çondur 

Mr. Çondur pointed out that the producers had a difficult production season due to the drought in Aydın province in 2021. Fevzi Çondur stated  that the drought was mitigated by minimal damage in 2021 and that the producers would have no problem with the drought due to this year's raining. Mr. Çondur. '' Aydın Governorship and DSI announced the number of floors for irrigation for this season. Although our barrages are full, we would think ahead for years to ensure that water is used sparingly and that our producers avoid excess irrigation.''

''The More Supports, The Better Inflation Will Benefit''

Mr. Çondur stated that the Agricultural Chambers gave declarations to increase the fertilizer and diesel use that they agree with the Agricultural Chambers in this regard. '' The higher supports, the better off inflation. However, if the amounts of support continue as they exist, this will trigger price increases. Their support for diesel fuels and fertilizers in particular is insufficient. As a result, that would be in the best interest of manufacturers to increase the supports and quickly announce the supports for sustainability in production.''

Mr. Çondur stated that global markets remain above the current global markets due to a surge in commodity markets as a result of a surge in production costs and rising commodity prices, especially with the Russian and Ukrainian wars. '' If prices of wheat, corn and cotton continue to rise this way until the end of the season, similar to the commodity prices, they will be seen in agricultural products. We expect a considerable increase in the prices of agricultural products starting in September from last year. We wish our producers another successful and productive season in this year.''
