Better Cotton Practices Association (IPUD) visited to Aydın Commodity Exchange.
Fuat Tanman, Chairman of IPUD, and many Board Members Muzaffer Turgut Kayhan, Leon Picon, Harun Bayramoglu and Director General Sükran Baycura visited our Commodity Exchange. IPUD Chairman Fuat Tanman with his delegation came together with Parliament Speaker A. Bahri Erdel, Chairman Fevzi Condur, Vice Chairman Cengiz Ulgen and General Secretary Neslihan Duymaz.
The visit focused on the cotton industry in the world and Turkey, the future of cotton, the growth of cotton in better conditions, the importance of cotton in our region and the problems of farmers. Consultations were held on the current work of the Association of Better Cotton Practices, which has served to promote sustainable cotton production in Turkey and enable a common benefit for the interested parties. The founder of the Better Cotton Standard System, a holistic approach that focuses on sustainable cotton production for its environmental, social and economic aspects, the body responsible for implementation and execution of the global dimension, planned to be covered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Better Cotton Practices.
Refering to the importance of cotton production in our country is of strategic matter, and addressing the importance of co-operating on projects of common benefit for all interested parties in the industry, Mr. Tanman said they would be pleased if Aydın Commodity Exchange was among the IPUD members.
Fevzi Condur, Chairman of Aydın Commodity Exchange, expressed satisfaction with this visit of IPUD Chairman Fuat Tanman and his delegation to Aydın Commodity Exchange. Cotton production in Turkey has an importance position, he said, adding that it is therefore remarkable to ensure the sustainability of the cotton industry and cotton production in Turkey, from cotton producers to thread producers to textile industries. Mr. Condur expressed readiness to participate in joint projects with IPUD to ensure continuity in cotton production for our province and country.
