Aydın Commodity Exchange holds getting PDO registration on the agricultural products of Aydın, being an city of agriculture.
Aydın Commodity Exchange has completed the Protected Designation of Origin labours to make valuable Aydın's agricultural potential such as Aydın Chestnut and Aydın Memecik Olive Oil, and has added Aydın Yamalak Olive Oil to that list of registered products.
''Aydın Yamalak Yellow Olive'' granted protection by the Aydın Commodity Exchange upon its application with number C2018/138 dated on June 26, 2018. It was registered with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office on April 21, 2021.
Fevzi Çondur stated that Aydın Commodity Exchange maintains its own Protected Designation of Origin efforts withour stop. '' With the date of April 21, 2021, we have obtained the Geographical Registration of Aydın Yamalak Sarısı Zeytini, which we have applied to protect our agricultural products from unfair competition and to set out its specificity for agricultural products. With the registration of the Aydın Yamalak Yellow Olive, the number of our PDO products registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and the relevant departments have increased to three. We have a high variety of products due to the geographical structure and climatic characteristics of our region. Therefore, we are supposed to work much often towards making our products identified with our region a part list of PDO products. We would like to thank to our Geographical Indıcation consultant Huriye Özener and Aydın Adnan Menderes University, Department of Fruit Cultivation and Rehabilitation Plants of Agriculture Faculty, Professor Engin Ertan. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Faik Ekmel Tekintaş, Professor of Retirement from the Faculty of Agriculture, Adnan Menderes University (ADÜ), and Aydın Yamalak Sarısı has made significant contributions to the Gographical Indication Registration process. We commemorate their memory with gratitude.''
The appliaction made by the Aydın Commodity Exchange with application number C2018/138 dated June 26, 2018, to receive protection and registered on April 21, 2021, ''Aydın Yamalak Yellow Olive'' is a type of olive that grows earlier only in Aydın province. Aydın Yamalak Yellow Olive, one of the best green and pickled olives, contains 20 percent fat.
