21 November 2024 Thursday
After the congratulatory ceremony at the Aydın Governorship, the ceremony began with Aydın Governor Yakup Canbolat, Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, and Garrison Commander Colonel Mehmet Toker greeting the public and participants in the ceremony with the ceremonial vehicle at İstasyon Square. The ceremony continued with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
In his speech about the significance of the day, Aydın Governor Yakup Canbolat stated, "October 29, 1923, the day our republic was founded under the leadership of the great Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, following the victorious liberation struggle of our nation, is undoubtedly one of the most powerful days in the glorious history of our nation. Today, we proudly and joyously celebrate the 101st anniversary of this great day. In those difficult times, when our armies were disbanded, our weapons were confiscated, and our country, including its capital, was occupied, our noble nation, even in the face of poverty and impossibilities, never lost hope. With the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our struggle was carried on with faith and determination, and the War of Independence ended in victory. The Republic is the history of work, determination, perseverance, unity, and rebirth. The Republic is the most meaningful legacy of our nation's struggle for existence in this land, and the strongest expression of its determination to protect its independence. With these feelings and thoughts, I sincerely congratulate the 29th October Republic Day of the noble Turkish nation and you, my fellow citizens of Aydın. I also commemorate, with respect, all of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our country, our existence, and our independence, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk."
