Aydın Çam Fıstığı Announced in the Official Journal of the European Commission

On August 24, 2023, Aydın Commodity Exchange applied for Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status for Aydın Çam Fıstığı (Aydın Pine Nut) under reference number PDO-TR-02989. The application process was successfully completed, and the product was announced in the Official Journal of the European Commission (C/2025/778) on January 31, 2025.

Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of Aydın Commodity Exchange, highlighted the success of their efforts in promoting and protecting Aydın’s agricultural values internationally. He emphasized that after a three-month objection period, Aydın Çam Fıstığı would officially receive its EU geographical indication certification.

Aydın Commodity Exchange has previously secured EU registration for Aydın Kestanesi and Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı, while Aydın Memecik Zeytini is still awaiting approval. With the addition of Aydın Çam Fıstığı, Aydın continues to be the Turkish province with the highest number of EU geographical indications, strengthening its global recognition.

Mr. Çondur expressed gratitude to Geographical Indication Consultant Huriye Özener, Dr. Burak Erdem Algül from Aydın Adnan Menderes University, Turkish Patent and Trademark Office President Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zeki Durak, and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu for their contributions. He concluded by wishing success for the region and Turkey in the international market.
