Issue 36: Adding a New Perspective to the Greatest Ideal of Olive Oil Production

Could you briefly tell our readers about the Niz Olive family?

Niz Olive, founded by our father Nebi Yorgun, began operating in 2021. One of his greatest dreams was to open an olive oil factory. My dad instilled this love and passion in us as well, and as his children, we are continuing along this path.

When it comes to olive oil in our country, the Aegean Region comes to mind. You are making dedicated efforts for the branding of olive oil in our region. Can you tell us about your work so far in this regard?

We produce Memecik olives, the most valuable olive variety of our region, using state-of-the-art machinery. We have crowned the oils we produce, without compromising our quality and standards, with gold medals from numerous competitions in Turkey and around the world.

How did the branding process of Niz Olive begin?

Since its establishment, Niz Olive has been participating in various international competitions with its oils and has been working to promote its name through social media, thus making progress on the path to branding.

We can talk about many qualitative values unique to olive oil, but can you describe the characteristics that make the oil you obtain from Memecik olives in the Aydın region exceptional, as well as the conditions you create to achieve these qualities?

The olives, carefully harvested by rake from the orchards, reach our factory in the shortest time possible. The olives are pressed with great care, ensuring that none of their qualities are lost. The oil we obtain from olives that have not come into contact with damaged soil preserves their fruitiness, bitterness, and pungency.

You mentioned on your official website that you store your olive oil in special bottles, which sets you apart from many other companies. Could you share the bottling techniques or the characteristics of the bottles? Do you think packaging affects the quality of the oil?

In our first year in the industry, we wanted to create a memorable impression with a different design. At the same time, we aimed for the bottle packaging not to compromise the quality of our olive oil. This is because olive oil is a product very sensitive to heat, light, and moisture. To preserve its quality, we decided on such packaging.

What methods do you use most frequently to make your sales?

We mainly sell through our official website and other sales channels like Trendyol. Could you describe the stages from your production process to the final consumer? As mentioned above, we process the olives immediately after they arrive. The extracted oils are placed in stainless steel tanks. After resting for 1-2 days, they are filtered through paper and returned to the stainless steel tanks. Argon gas is injected to minimize their contact with air. The oils are filled upon order, and we ensure delivery to our customers.

Harvest time must be very special for you. What feelings does the process evoke? Could you talk about the technologies you use in olive oil production at Niz Olive?

Harvest time is exhausting but equally enjoyable for us. We take care of the oils we produce as if we are raising a baby. All our oils are cold-pressed, and we use state-of-the-art machinery (Pieralisi) for production.

You have won four awards, including World Championship, Turkish Championship, Grand Prestige Gold, and Top 20 with Niz Olive olive oil. This is a great pride for our province and country. Can you share this process?

Receiving certification for the oils we produce with great care, like a baby, made us very proud. We strive every day to produce even better.

What terms should we see on the packaging?

Memecik variety, Cold Pressed, Early Harvest.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We will continue on this path with the same care and diligence. We will proceed with the motto “Good Olive Oil is Everyone's Right.”
