The first dried fig of the 2021-2022 season in Aydın was delivered by the producers to Aydın Commodity Exchange at 250 per kilo.
The first dried fig purchase ceremony of 2021-2022 was held at Aydın Commodity Exchange. Aydın Governor Mr. Aksoy, Aydın Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Manager Ahmet Ökdem, Aydın Commodity Exchange President of the Assembly A.Bahri Erdel, Vice President of the Assembly Rıza Uyar, Ahmet Şenel, Chairman of the Board Fevzi Çondur, Vice Chairman Cengiz Ülgen, Councilors Adem Türkmen, Mehmet Ali Avcu, Board Members Kazım Günaydın, Ali Çevik, Chamber of Industry President of Assembly Gökhan Maraş, Söke Chamber of Commerce Chairman Haluk Kutlay and producers participated. The first dried fig of the season was symbolically purchased by Aydın Commodity Exchange at 250 Turkish Liras per kilo.
Aydın Governor Hüseyin Aksoy, announced the first dry fig purchasing ceremony of the 2021 season, said ‘’ Figs are really important product for our country and the Aydın economy. Turkey meets 60 percent of the world’s fig needs and Aydın meets 80 percent of our country. In this respect, Aydın is in an important position in fig production. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to fig production. I wish the season to be auspicious. I hope it will be a year in which our producer will be rewarded for their great effort.
Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Board of Aydın Commodity Exchange, who stated that the harvest season has started in figs, which is the most important export product of Aydın, where more than half of the world’s fresh fig production and dry fig is met, wished that the dry fig season would be good and fertile for producers, traders and exporters. Çondur said, ‘’Aydın is the largest fig producer not only in our country but also through the world. Therefore, figs have become a product that guides the trade of our province. Since fig enterprises are also in Aydın, we are now a leader in the trade and processing of dried figs in our country and in the world.
Çondur, ‘’ We strive to respond to consumption with quality production.’’
Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Board of Aydın Commodity Exchange, said ‘’ We completed the season with a total registered fig production of 78,800 Tons in last year. About 47,000 tons of that was exported. Fig consumption increased in our country in terms of healthy eating during the pandemic period and we are trying to respond to this consumption with quality production. However, as you appreciate, a decrease in product quality is expected, especially due to the increase in temperatures that occured in our country last week and which is above the seasonal norms. Together with the Ministry, we started our recollection studies on August 9, 2021. On Friday, August 13, 2021, İzmir and Aydın will be concluded in two provinces and the results of the recitation will be shared with the public by our ministry.’’
Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Board of Aydın Commodity Exchange, who stated that he was symbolically received by Aydın Commodity Exchange at 250 Turkish Liras per kilo as the first purchase in Aydın, said ‘’Our hope is that first of all, it will be a good and fertile season for our producers. Our greatest hope is that our tress will not be damaged by the drought. Beacuse the crop is for this season when the trees are extending to years, so we hope we could get through this year without any loss. ‘’
Those who delivered the first dried figs to the season to Aydın Commodity Exchange Saffet Selek from Kuyucak, Önder Dilekli from Nazilli, Halit Bilgen and Yahya Bayraklı from Köşk, Mithat Akkaya and Ruhi Doğan from Germencik stated that they expect a good season by stating that the quality of figs is high this year.
